COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Jim Heaney
Chairman
Jim started running about 10 years ago with the desire to lose some weight. Within 6 months he had lost nearly 5 stone and ran his first marathon! Since then he has completed another 6 marathons as well as numerous half's & 10ks. Highlight of his running was competing against Haile Gabreiselassie in Berlin. Haile won and set a new world record! Jim finished nearly 2 hours after him but will tell you he pushed him on to the record! Injuries have curtailed Jim's running over the last couple of years and he has concentrated more on cycling, regularly cycling up to 100 miles at a time. Jim also competes in the odd triathlon and has a dream of one day doing an Ironman! Jim is self employed in the music business. He primarily promotes concerts under the name The real Music Club and he also from time to time works as a tour manager travelling with artists. He is actually writing this updated bio while on the road in Europe looking after the merchandise on a Snoop Dogg tour. Yes as well as being a runner, Jim is a swag man for a world famous rapper!

Linda Keers
Treasurer
I started running about a year and a half ago and since then have been well and truly bitten by the bug. So far I have run in Dublin, Edinburgh and Berlin marathons and competed in a lot of local half marathons and other races. I have also this year ventured into the world of triathlons! If someone would have told me last year that I
would have done all this, I wouldn't have believed them! The club and its great bunch of members have been a brilliant support to me.

Barbs McKeeverSecretary Wow.... time has flown since may '08 when I first joined the club, 3 years later, 3 full marathons (2 dublin + 1 london) and 15 half marathons (including 7 in half marathon series 2010) under my belt.

I also just finished my level 2 athletics coaching (now i can offically shout at all the members....hee hee).

The club has grown in strength as well as membership and its all down to a very friendly & encouraging bunch of people we have at "Up and Runners"

Geri Savage
I am the Welfare Officer for Up and Runners and I have been with the club from the very beginning. I have completed a number of courses associated with disability awareness, child protection, risk assessment and first aid to name but a few. I have been sidelined for the last year with injuries but have completed 3 marathons and numerous half marathons and 10k's in my time with the club. I am now back running and hope to meet all the new members soon at our regular Wednesday night fixture!

Jacqui McGrath I joined the club at the start, way back in 2007. I have been on the committee for 2 years. I started entering running events in 2005 but had run non-competitively for a long time before that. I started off with the Mallusk 10K in, and quickly progressed to my first half marathon in Derry a month later! In 2006 I ran the Edinburgh marathon, and I have done another 4 since then, as well as various other races and distances.

Colin Simpson Ran at school but then stopped as other things took priority. Got back into running in 2007 when I hit 40 and decided I was too old to keep playing football. A few guys in work were doing the TQ10k so I entered my first race. I remember standing at the start and looking round at all these athletic types in their technical vests and proper running shoes, and feeling so inadequate in my cotton t shirt, football socks and my 5 a side trainers. 55 minutes later I had finished my first race, and in the process had been bitten by the running bug. I haven’t looked back since. I joined Up and Runners in 2009. Joining the club was a great move as I have made some good friends and improved my running. The camaraderie of running with a group ensures that i am a regular at the Wednesday night training.

Mags Mathieson I joined the club in May 2010, just after completing my first marathon in London. I was disappointed with my time, 5.14 (or 4.74 as I preferred to say) and wanted to try and improve. Sure enough just six months later I completed Dublin in 4.13 – a whole hour shaved off.! Since joining the club I have met some lovely people and my love of running has just increased. I recently completed a ‘Leaders in Running Fitness’ course and i can take out groups of runners. I joined the committee in February as the Events Co-Ordinator, so any ideas you have for social events – give me a shout.
