Training

Wednesday Run

The Wednesday Run takes place at 6.30 from Cutters Wharf/Belfast Boat Club carpark every week. If you are interested in running with us, please read the Wednesday Run FAQ. Distance and pace vary across the group with some covering 14 miles at 7/8 min mile pace or others 3 miles at 10/11 min mile pace. All abilities are encouraged and welcome to join us. Please check the Wednesday run thread for updates.

Weekend Runs

A longer Saturday or Sunday run is typically arranged on the forum each week. Saturday runs are usually from cutters around 9.30am. Sunday runs are typically at noon from the Stormont Pavillion. Please check the Saturday or Sunday run threads for updates each week.

Ad-hoc Runs
There are plenty of ad-hoc runs that are organised by club members and members of the forum network, through the Up & Running Talkback Forum. As many of these runs are planned to meet specific training programmes leading to a race, for example a marathon, and in the interest of safety, we ask people not known to the originator of the run not to turn up without prior agreement. Normally, once people have been out with the club on a couple of occasions, it will be possible to match your experience, ability & level of fitness to existing members so you can take part in whatever of these runs fits in to your requirements.

Beginner Runs

New runners are asked to come along to the Wednesday run. A FAQ dealing with all aspects of the Wednesday run can be found HERE. The idea is to match runners of similar ability for better motivation and to enjoy running as a group. All abilities are actively encouraged whether you are following a run/walk plan or running 6 min mile. The more the merrier!
You can also check the Wednesday run thread or Beginners thread for updates.

Newry Runs

The regular Newry long run takes place every Sunday morning between 9 and 9.30am from the Swimming Pool. This is aimed at all abilities.

A run for the more experienced runner takes place from Gym-Tech at 9am every Saturday. The pace is typically between 6.30 to 6.50 minute mile. Please contact martyg for more details via the Up & Running Talkback Forum..
